Community-Led Growth
We have thousands of customers, but no real community. Where do we start?+
Start by giving customers a reason to connect beyond buying your product. That could be a private group, Slack community, regular events, educational content, or a space to exchange ideas and advice. Community-Led Growth begins when customers start creating value for each other—not just interacting with your brand.
How do I know if my community is actually helping my business grow?+
Look beyond member count. Are customers referring others, answering questions, creating content, sharing feedback, or helping new users succeed? A strong community creates value that eventually translates into higher retention, stronger advocacy, and organic acquisition.
What's the difference between having an audience and having a community?+
An audience primarily interacts with your brand. A community interacts with your brand and with each other. If communication is mostly one-way, you have an audience. When members start exchanging ideas, helping each other, and building relationships, you have the foundations of a community.
Do I need thousands of members for Community-Led Growth to work?+
Not at all. A small group of highly engaged customers can be far more valuable than thousands of passive members. The goal isn't to build the biggest community; it's to create one where people genuinely participate, connect, and advocate for your brand.
We created a community, but nobody is talking. What are we doing wrong?+
Creating a Slack, Discord, or Facebook Group doesn't automatically create a community. People need a reason to participate. Give members exclusive knowledge, useful discussions, access to experts, events, networking opportunities, or ways to contribute. Community starts with value, not a platform.
